Common Weeds in the Upper Macquarie Area

Serrated Tussock

Scientific Name: Nassella trichotoma

Identification difficult – similar to native tussock grasses. Produces up to 100,000 long lived seeds per plant. Of no feed value and because of selective grazing of palatable species by stock serrated tussock will spread rapidly and substantially reduce carrying capacity. Control requires an effective integrated weed management approach.
